This is a very atmospheric and charming game with great potential and a fun and simple gameplay loop. The only negatives in this are small, such as a potential glitch (i'm not sure if this was intentional or not) where sometimes the ash that drops from enemies immediately disappears. All around a great game

While the animation was very well done the gameplay itself was not any where nearly as good. It mostly consisted of saving and dying over and over again until you figure out how to avoid an enemy, which wouldn't have been so annoying if it weren't for the fact it sent you back to the start menu after showing a game over screen every single time. If your game is going to be structured around dying over and over again (which I personally think is annoying on its own but that's just my opinion), then at the very least let the player start quickly again. This game was very reminiscent of those old rpgmaker horror games people would do lets plays of, and because of that it has charm. Sadly it also carries the flaws those games had as well.
