Since I've been going for a ton of walks I figured I can write down what I saw somewhere. I don't think the wildlife I saw is really local or endemic to any area so it shouldn't give away where I live. Or at least not precisely.
Okay first off I actually came up on a scissor tailed fly catcher nest. If you don't know what that is its a really agile white bird with a long tail that looks like a pair of scissors. Usually you'll see them in places with a couple trees but also a lot of open plains. They like to chase down bugs, hence the name.
Anyways, there were some grackles near by (another type of bird, some call them the walmart birds), and it looked like they were trying to raid the nest. The grackles actually had their own baby with them. I say baby in the loosest definition by the way. That was a grown ass bird who could fly, but it was still begging for food from its mom.
I realized that because I parked near the nest, I was probably scaring the parents who weren't so used to people, so I got out of their and let the parents get back to throwing hands.
Actually there was a bit of wildlife in the bathroom. Lots of spiders. I know, I know, spiders aren't out to get me and they're just as scared of me as I am of them and yeah I get it. I'm not scared out of spiders cause I don't know anything about them. I actually know a good deal. I just have an irrational fear. Which is really weird cause I'm not scared of other bugs, its just something about the way spiders are shaped I guess? I'm trying to get over it though. I bought a little field guide to spiders. I think maybe trying to id them on the field might make me less scared of them.
Speaking of spiders, I saw a big ass tarantula. It wasn't a Texas brown, I've seen those before and those guys are pretty leggy. This one was fat, and mostly just light brown instead of having the dark abdomen the browns do. Last noteworthy thing I can remember is a roadrunner. It had something in its mouth but it was small so I couldn't see what. I just like roadrunners. Anyways I'm probably gonna go work on a commission now, bye.
